Some mental health providers may disagree, but, I do believe we have the power to create our emotional experience. Watch, I'll show you! I couple evidenced-based treatments, wellness perspectives, Eastern theories, a conscious awareness approach - geared towards creating intrinsic & extrinsic progress. Your progress may include improved relationships, increased motivation, stronger sense of self-value, greater career & academic success, a reduction of painful & distress inducing emotions or unwanted behaviors.

Together, we’ll work towards understanding both the nature of your unwanted emotions & the recurrence of your unfavorable experiences. We’ll discuss what you’d gain, what you’d keep, & what you’d choose to no longer experience. With that information, we'll create your version of happiness.

Full Disclosure: my therapy style is very assertive. I've always been someone who has a lot of energy and I love bringing that into my sessions. I'm very upfront; I'll say things like "Yes, your feelings are valid - & so?" "That doesn't mean they serve you". In other words, I may come off as less "delicate" than most therapists. Basically, I don't believe that my role is to help you "feel better":

My goal is to help you change your life - Period!

Services are only being provided online or over the phone at this time. If you prefer to connect online, you will receive a user name and password, which you would use to log onto your online therapy platform. There, you'll be able to access my schedule, add yourself in for your sessions, reschedule, or cancel your appointments. You can also choose to add in your credit/debit card info, so that you're only charged when you log into our video sessions. If you prefer to not add your CC info, you always have the options of sending your payments through PayPal or Zelle.

The choice is yours!

I do not provide text therapy. I believe that it's too risky given how easily information could be misinterpreted through text. Also, as doctors, our ethics board does not allow us to provide services which have not been backed up by years of scientific research. Masters level therapists have more flexibility around this.

At this moment I am not providing face-to-face therapy or in vivo exposure therapy. Hopefully soon, once this Covid period has finally ended, I will be able to provide in-person services once again. Until then, all my therapy services will be provided online over the phone.

I'm a big fan of online therapy. I wrote my dissertation on Telehealth back in the mid 2010s when it was still considered to be fairly controversial. Online therapy tremendously improves access to care. Research has demonstrated that online therapy is just as effective as face-to-face when done in the proper setting (e.g. sitting at a desk or sofa and being on a desktop or laptop, rather than having a video phone session while parked in your car).

Exposure therapy may be the most effective treatment options for certain types of anxiety related challenges such as OCD, social phobia and specific

phobias. Exposure therapy is often provided outside of a traditional office, allowing clients an opportunity to face and overcome anxiety inducing challenges by facing them directly. An example of an exposure session might include me taking a flight with a client who suffers from a phobia of flying. I do miss in-person exposure therapy. I will begin providing in-vivo exposure therapy once this Covid era has finally come to an end.

I specialize in working with adults, ages 18-45, who experience depression, anxiety disorders (agoraphobia, panic disorder, social anxiety, specific phobias), OCD, insomnia, chronic pain, relationship challenges, heartbreak, phase-of-life stressors, procrastination behaviors & LGBTQ/Race related challenges or trauma.

I do not treat PTSD from sexual trauma or challenges related to having an eating disorder. If you're seeking therapy for either of those challenges, it's best that you select a psychologist who specializes in those areas.

I provide face-to-face therapy, online therapy, & in-vivo exposure therapy.

Free initial 30-min phone consultation. Session fee is $185 per one-hour session for video, or, $165 for phone sessions. Because I do not have a medical coder on staff, I DO NOT accept health insurance as a form of payment. I can however provide you with a receipt following our sessions which you could submit to your insurance company and they will then reimburse you based on your out of network coverage. Due to the sudden rise in new clients since the 2020 protests, I'm unfortunately no longer able to offer a sliding scale discount to those who have been financially affected by Covid.

In response to this 2020 global mental health crisis - I've decided to launch a virtual mental health wellness group practice which will be available to those living in California, New York and Florida. My company will be similar to Better Help or Talk Space, however, at my group practice you will have the option to connect with a licensed psychologist using your health insurance where you'd likely just pay a small copay. I'm currently creating the company with a team of psychologists from my grad school, internship, and my fellowship cohorts. This practice will feature young psychologists of different cultural backgrounds, and there will also be several therapists of color & LGBTQ+ therapists on staff. The company will be called Therapy Pad, and it will launch in the start of 2021.

Stay tuned!
